Celebrating Hayden Casey's SHOW ME WHERE THE HURT IS!
A note from Hayden Casey
This book was a complete surprise: only years after writing most of these stories did I sit back and think, Hmm, you know, some of these kinda feel like they belong together. And now it's a physical object! I wrote the first story, "Hot Yoga," back in October 2019, when I was fresh to the MFA; the last, "Is this it," I wrote in December 2023, a year and a half past graduation. The book's early support has been warm and wild—I'm so grateful to its early readers, and I can't thank the Split/Lip team enough for all they've done to help usher it into the world. Pedro edited sensitively, David made it look beautiful, Abby and Gage helped me spread the word. And Kristine did a hundred million things behind the scenes.
I hope you'll check out the book if you haven't already, and also maybe take a peek at the companion album I wrote, full of songs inspired by and in conversation with the stories.
You’re invited to tonight’s Show Me Where the Hurt Is launch, featuring Hayden Casey and fellow SLP author Tucker Leighty-Phillips.
The Split/Lip Press team is so grateful to each and every person who takes the time to share our books with the world. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for supporting small presses! We couldn’t do this without you.
